| Mets fan arrested for distracting Braves players Strange story. According to the Associated Press, "A 40-year-old man arrested at Shea Stadium on Friday night is accused of trying to distract an Atlanta Braves pitcher and shortstop with a high-powered flashlight... Frank Martinez was charged with interference with a professional sporting event and second-degree reckless endangerment, Queens District Attorney Richard Brown said Saturday... | Re: Mets fan arrested for distracting Braves players MORGANNA ROBERTS is an entertainer who became known as Morganna or Morganna, the Kissing Bandit in baseball and other sports from the early 1970s through the 1980s. She was also billed as "Morganna the Wild One" when appearing as an ecdysiast in the 1970s. Most sources agree that she was born on the Fourth of July, in 1954, in Louisville, Kentucky. Her claim to fame is her kissing chudspah and her large breasts. Her vital statistics were often reported to be 60-23-39.[1] Other uncredited reports assess her vital statistics at a less gargantuan 44-23-37. Her breasts has been reported to be all-natural, which seems likely since she was so well endowed at the time of her first public appearance at the age of 17, at a time when breast implants were relatively rare. She distinguishes herself from the dumb blonde stereotype with her with her wit as displayed during her appearances on Johnny Carson and David Letterman's late-night talk shows. She frequently quipped that fellow busty sex symbol Dolly Parton was "flat-chested" compared to her. Her modus operandi was to obtain a front row seat and wear a large, bulky jacket to somewhat disguise her identity. When a particular star was on the field, she would whip off the jacket, dash onto the field wearing a T-shirt and gym shorts and plant a harmless kiss on the player's lips, usually evoking a sheepish grin from him and an appreciative roar from the crowd. She was arrested each time, for disorderly conduct, which merely served to fuel her career and notoriety. Texas attorney Richard "Racehorse" Haynes once introduced the not entirely serious "gravity defense" for her, in which it was argued that her topheavy condition caused her to fall over the railing and onto the field. She appeared in Playboy magazine, in June 1983, April 1985 and September 1989. During the 1990s she occasionally kissed minor league players.[2] Her last notable appearance before retirement was in the Farrelly brothers' feature film Kingpin in 1996, appearing as herself. Morganna went into retirement at the end of 1999 and now lives in Columbus, Ohio. She no longer grants interviews or does appearances. |

| Mets Fan Pleads Guilty Update: A New York Mets fan has been ejected from Shea Stadium for three years after pleading guilty on Tuesday to shining a high-powered flashlight at an Atlanta Braves pitcher and shortstop during a game there last month. Frank Martinez, 40, of the Bronx, also must spend 15 days behind bars as part of his sentence for interfering with a professional sporting event. "In a game in which the ball can travel upward of 110 mph, the defendant's actions were dangerous to both spectators and players," Queens District Attorney Richard Brown said in a statement. Authorities said that on the evening of April 20, while seated behind home plate, Martinez turned the beam on Braves pitcher Tim Hudson and shortstop Edgar Renteria. The Braves were leading 7-0 at the time. Renteria complained to umpire Paul Emmel, who called time out and alerted security. The security officers removed Martinez and found "a small, streamline flashlight" in his backpack, authorities said. | Re: Mets Fan Pleads Guilty Was he just ejected or did they give him a chance to quit screwing around with the flashlight first? I don't buy that argument he his actions were dangers to spectators. I mean annoying yes but a lethal flashlight? Just more of our paranoid, oversensitive society embarrassing itself as it usually does when you watch the news. |
