David Wright...Overrated???

I'm sorry but consider the facts that David Wright might not quite be the second coming of A-Rod. Yes he hits well for average but it's his power that's overrated in my book. Do you ever think he'll be a 30 homerun guy? Frankly i'm beginning to have my doubts, no homers in 2007 and he strikes out A LOT!!!

Re: David Wright...Overrated???

He is about a 30-35 (peak) HR guy, but a tad less than Grady Sizemore.

Re: David Wright...Overrated???

He does hit for a good average i'll grant him that...those strikeouts though are getting to be Pete Incavilia level!

Re: David Wright...Overrated???

I've seen the Mets of late as being a streaky group of hitters. It seems like they take turns getting hot. Right now Reyes has been amazing. Maybe in a few weeks DWright will start cranking em out. That being said, it's not like he's not hitting the ball at all. I think I'd rather have good, solid hitters than people who are hitting for the fences all the time.

Re: David Wright...Overrated???

Overrated? How so? Becaue he doesn't hit 40+ HRs? As long as he hits 25 HRs a year (which he has every full season of his career so far), and drives in 100+ RBIs with a batting average around .300, what's not to love? His defense is above average and he's a great character guy.

Overrated? Compared to who?

Wright will grow into his power...he is young...a good indication for young hitters is the number of doubles they are hitting...plus the dude has a 24 game hitting streak...he is not overrated...he will be an All-Star for years to come...go back to picking on Manning Nuke...

Yeah I guess you're right. I like Wright a lot but those damn strikeouts! It just frustrates me sometimes. What I want out of him is not be Derek Jeter in terms of power (not that Jeter's not great) and hit like Marc said, 30-35 HRs while keeping that average high.

Cool Re: David Wright...Overrated???

He's only 24 years old. He could play on my team.

Re: David Wright...Overrated???

His current 25 game hitting streak is the longest in Mets history.

Re: David Wright...Overrated???

OVerrated? your right the guy hits for average ill take that john olerude(SP?) his carrer was the same way and to me people underrated him. Wright is young, the k's will come down with more plate expierence, two years isnt enough plate expierence and yes 30-35 hrs will be about what he hits but remember isnt that what mike schmidt did in the non steroid era???? Thats what baseball will slowly become a non steroid era again. Wright will be the number 2 3b for awhile only cause arod is around. I def think there is no one better then him tho besides arod

FYI: Mets organization established in 1962.

A greater feat than in other organizations, such as the Diamondbacks.

How long do you think that he will be able to keep this streak alive?

Re: David Wright...Overrated???

Wright is far from being overrated. Give the guy some time to develop more. A hitter dosen't have to hit 40 HR's a year to be considered a good player.
