Same thing here, I mean Wright doesnt have the power that A-Rod have but he can have golden glove moments like jeter, Remember that over the back catch, a few years back? That was beautiful, I think it was against the D-Backs? But still, its the fact that I see him doing 30-35 HR's a year, but look at him capturing a few golden gloves and silver sluggers for that position, I think he can dominate the position like Mike Schmidt did....

Oh yea and one more thing... MY 100th Post... thats accomplishment for me... Most post Ive ever put on a forum... I LOVE THIS SITE!!!!

Re: David Wright...Overrated???

Well so far David Wright does one of two things...pop out or strike out. They should put him in the 8th spot because I think he's costing them runs. He's been a dud since the all-star break of 2006.

Re: David Wright...Overrated???

I'm tempted to release him in fantasy baseball.

As with Joe Mauer, I need players who are reliable and can produce runs.

Re: David Wright...Overrated???

Wright was on every GQ type magazine cover in the tri-state area and on Letterman, etc. It was then that the all star break happened and his power vanished. Some guys can't handle the media as well as Derek Jeter where his head is totally in the game despite whatever happens outside baseball.

MAybe the 8th spot will help him...he will be out of the spotlight and can find his swing...

Re: David Wright...Overrated???

I wouldn't say he's been a dud since the ASG 06. His power has simply fallen off the chart (compared to the first half of 06 where he was a HR machine). He hit .300+ and drove in over 40 RBIs in the second half.

He's simply in a slump and eventually will get out of it and start hitting the ball into the gaps on a more consistant basis. Just a slump, nothing more, nothing less.

you would hope...but a long slump could damage a young player's confidence...maybe a move would help...maybe it would make it worse...

Re: David Wright...Overrated???

He's a young star and has unlimited potential.

I guess he got drawn up with being the cover athlete of MLB The Show.

He should focus on the game, and resort to his old ways.

Baseball slumps are mostly physicological, except for some caused by injuries or surgeries.

Re: David Wright...Overrated???

I was only semi-serious about Wright hittting 8th but maybe they should drop him down behind Alou at least in the 6th hole because watching him at the plate it's obvious he's pressing. He needs less pressure on him and when he gets his swing and confidence back then perhaps you can move him up in the order.

Re: David Wright...Overrated???

Wright is a 2 season wonder. Big league pitchers have figured him out and he reminds me of Bernard Gilkey. Trade him for some premiere pitching because there will be some teams that believe falsely that Wright is a top talent which of course he is not. NOT!!! WRIGHT SUCKS!!!

Re: David Wright...Overrated???

Okay Nuke, next time David Ortiz has a slump, you can proclaim he's a overhyped average player.

You sure do jump off bandwagons fast.

Patience...

Re: David Wright...Overrated???

You'll see at the end of the year when Wright is batting .270 with 11 homers that I was right (pardon the pun). I'm glad these posts have dates attached to them. Trade Wright!!!

It seems that he may have used performance enhancing-drugs earlier in his career.

Re: David Wright...Overrated???

Well David Wright last night was 2 for 4 with a RBI double.

Randolph has been playing him in the 2 slot more often as of late, probably moreseo because of Lo Duca's lack of consistant hitting (although he's a great singles hitter).
