Maine, Beltran Lead Mets Sweep of Cards

John Maine had an outstanding night against the Cardinals. In seven innings of work, he allowed just a single hit and struck out six. Meanwhile, Carlos Beltran hit two dingers and Jose Reyes also had a home run.

The Mets scored 10 runs against the Cardinals pitching staff (who were not helped by poor defense).

So far, the Mets have had tremendous starting pitching, great defense and good offense.

They travel to Atlanta for Friday which will be the Brave's home opener. Swept the Cardinals...now it's time to feed those evil Braves their medicine.

I was very impressed with the Mets starting pitching during this series. It'll be interesting to see if they can keep it up.

My sister in law went to school with Maine...she tutored the guy...

The man looked good, so I added him to my GTG team...

The Mets could not have scripted a better start for the season, while down in Philly, the Charlie Manuel watch is probably already officially on.
