El Duque's Great Start

Hernandez has the first win of his season after having pitched seven innings, giving up five hits and one run with two strikeouts.

The Mets are 2-0 to start the 2007 season after receiving two great pitching performances from their top two starters.

Re: El Duque's Great Start

You would slot El Duque in the Mets' Top Two? In my opinion, it would be currently John Maine and Tom Glavine. Pedro Martinez is definitely up there, but he is not active at the moment.

Re: El Duque's Great Start

As a matter of fact, I'd put Oliver Perez in the three spot. But with El Duque, you get the veteran leadership and experience so you can't argue with that.

But I definitely agree with Maine being the "real" #2 guy on the staff.

Don't you believe that Tom Glavine has the same, if not more, experience than Orlando Hernandez?

Gotta agree with my man Marc...I am more impressed with the young Mr. Maine then my old country man Hernandez.

Re: El Duque's Great Start

Maine didn't do well in today's Maine Event. Optimistically speaking, his next start should atone for his dispicable appearance on the mound today.
