One of the position players fighting for a spot on the 25-man opening day roster for the Mets if OF Lastings Milledge. After being called up last season, he had a few runs in which resulted in bad press. From high-fiving fans after a home run off Armando Benitez, to dropping fly balls in Fenway Park to receiving the usual rookie treatment from his teammates. However, now it's a new season.
This spring, he's hitting .355 and if he does make the team, it would probably be at the expense of veteran Shawn Green.
Either way, Milledge seems to understand the numbers game
