Soler defected from Cuba in November 2003 and signed a three-year contract for $2.8 million with the Mets in August 2004. He had a one-year contract for 2007 that would have paid him $826,675 in the majors and $620,000 in the minors and will receive 30 days termination pay: $101,639." Was Soler really that big of a bust?

I saw him pitch a few times last season. He didn't seem that bad to me. I am sure somebody else will pick him up.

They signed him back in 2004 and were hoping he would be here for the 2005 season. But he had a ton of visa issues including an agent who did shady things (who was fired and banned by the MLBPA for said things) and didn't get to the US until last year. Who knows how effective he would've been if he was here two years ago.
