Cool Mike Jacobs

Mike Jacobs hit a bomb off of Jorge Julio yesterday. Any Met fans out there think the Mets made a mistake by trading Jacobs for DelGado? The kid looks like he could hit.

Not only that but Jacobs is making minimum. DelGado is making a ton of money and blew the Mets off last year and had some nasty things to say about Omar Minya.

Re: Mike Jacobs

If you are asking the question, then you already know the answer. Wait until Delgado starts to hear the boos when he slumps and pulls one of his no shows for the anthem. Jacobs will probably become a 30 homer, 100 RBI man now with Florida.

The Mets barely play the Anthem. Delgado has already said he'd stand for it.

The Mets needed a dependable power bat and Delgado fits the bill. All they had to give up was a kid in Jacobs and a potential #3 starter in Petit. Jacobs is a nice young kid but he's a converted catcher (due to shoulder problems) and has a decent swing. He was hot last year so I wouldn't expect the same numbers...especially in a light Marlins line-up. Still, you never know.

Delgado for Jacobs + Petit...not even anything to think about.

Cool Re: Mike Jacobs

Empire: You also have to factor in salary. Because if DelGado isn't statistically dominant over Jacobs, the Mets could have spent the extra money on pitching. So I guess we'll see.

Money isn't that big of a deal here. The Mets, salary-wise, are pretty much in the same safe position they were last year. They were able to take so much salary off the books with Piazza and Cameron leaving and with guys like Floyd and Matsui in the final years of their contracts, they have mobility.
