Xavier Nady

I took a look at his line so far this spring and it looks pretty damn good. I know that stats in spring training are as useless as the regular season in the NBA but nevertheless...

X Nady .385 13 games 15-39 11 R 1 2B 1 3B 2 HR 10 RBI

Looks like he's earned the starting RF job. Victor Diaz, in that case, will likely start the year at Triple-A Norfolk just so he can get playing time.

From reports I've read from St. Lucie, Nady isn't a fluke in the field either.

Re: Xavier Nady

The Pirates were trying to trade for him a couple of years ago. He's a nice looking hitter. Don't know much about his defense.

Nady did great in San Diego when he was getting At bats...he needs to play often to do well... when he wasn't getting enough at bats, he slipped a notch...

Cool Re: Xavier Nady

Be careful about making rash judgements from Spring Training. In the early 90's Butch Huskey also hit a ton of homers in spring training and then turned out to be a bust. I'm sure Nady and Diaz will start out as a platoon in RF. Then they'll see what happens. Plus Randolph likes to rest Cliff Floyd so Nady could see some time in left as well as spell DelGado at first from time to time.

Re: Xavier Nady

I thought I read somewhere that Randolph wasn't interested in a platoon in right.

Legend: I haven't heard that but you could be right. But I don't see Diaz going back to the minors. But who knows.

Re: Xavier Nady

Wow, looking back at this thread, perhaps spring training can help hitters. Through the first week of the season, here is Nady's line...

Xavier Nady: 9-16, 4 R, 3 2b, 1 HR, 2 RBI, .563/.588/.938

The trade for Cammy isn't looking to shabby right now. Ofcourse, he could go into the tank and have a 2-32 May while Cameron could come back off the DL and light the West on fire.
