The Mets are watching with a keen eye the progress of relief pitcher Joe Smith. He's a submariner and just 22 years old. From the
NY Post, he's doing well because he throws first pitch strikes and pounds the strike zone low, something major league hitters don't like.
He's a righty but nevertheless, you can never have too many solid arms in the pen. If he's able to find his groove for the rest of spring training, he could find himself on the major league squad (while Duaner Sanchez completes the road to recovery; the Mets are taking their time) or possibly in the minors but one of the first who'd get the call should anything happen.
He's a name to look out for this Spring.
