Jose Reyes Looks Ripped

The Mets are playing their second spring training game today. Jose Reyes hit a home run during the game and SNY play by play man Gary Cohen mentioned how his shoulders look broader. I'm sure he hit the weight room over the off-season as he now looks a bit bigger.

If he's got a bit more power, adding with his speed, improved eye at the plate and everything else he brings to the table...it's just plain scary to think of what this kid can accomplish. And to think, he's still in his early 20s.

Re: Jose Reyes Looks Ripped

I'm glad he bulked up but I hope he's not trying to be new player by swinging for the fences everytime he gets up at the plate which is so en vogue nowadays. Reyes is exciting because of his speed and base stealing ability. When he's on first the crowd comes alive and the opposing pitcher gets a headache. Please don't let the best shortstop in the National League change his style. The Mets have plenty of power but they need guys on the bases who can do what only Reyes can so well.

Exactly. they need people to get on base so the big hitters can do their jobs. His job is to get on base and score.

If he wants to be more patient at the plate i'm all for it but I don't want him with this new ripped physique to try to be Hank Aaron. I'd rather him be Rickey Henderson. That's what the Mets need him to be.
