| Mets Sign Oliver Perez to New Deal To avoid arbitration, the Mets and LHP Oliver Perez agreed on a one year deal earlier in the weekend. Perez will be paid $2.235 Million and will have the opportunity to make more on incentives. He can make $12,500 each for making 15 and 25 starts. He will also have the chance to earn $25,000 by pitching 155, 16, 175 and 195 innings. Thanks to MetsBlog for the figures. Off topic but, The Ed Kranepool Society Blog also notes the Mets have some interest in RHP Jorge Sosa. |

| Re: Mets Sign Oliver Perez to New Deal For 2.3 million dollars he should be a starter. At some point the mets have to make a decision about who to go with. They can't do this every year for the next 5 years. The have to pick someone and stick with him. |

| Re: Mets Sign Oliver Perez to New Deal Near the end of his tenure with the Bucs, he sure looked that way. I actually welcomed the trade cause he wasn't doing it for us over the last couple of years, and I'm glad Perez had a chance to ressurect his young career. I still think he's got good stuff; not sure why he was struggling with us, but definitely glad to hear he's turning it around for you guys.

| Re: Mets Sign Oliver Perez to New Deal Lefty, what we heard about his stay in Pittsburgh was pretty crazy. After he had that one successful season, someone in Pittsburgh tried to change his motion and delivery which hampered him more than it helped. I believe they tried turning him into a finesse pitcher for some reason...where he obviously failed. |
