NY Mets About to Sign David Newhan

The Mets are on the verge of signing veteran utility player David Newhan according to The Ed Kranepool Socity Blog.

It would be a good signing. I believe he would get an invitation to spring training or a minor league contract and have to make the big league club. He can play either of the corner OF spots and I believe most if not all of the infield spots safe for catcher.

An utility infielder would be most welcome for the Mets and the outfield is a bonus.

Speaking of outfield I guess the Mets will consist of Green, Beltran and Alou. Not bad, not bad at all!

As it stands now, the starting outfield will probably be Beltran, Green and Alou. Then you have Endy Chavez playing perhaps twice a week and don't forget about Lastings Milledge (who I'm sure will make the team).

Lastings will have some time spelling Alou as Alou is 40 and is gonna need some days off.

Minaya is good at these peripheral signings....The big question is - what will the Mets do about their starting pitching?
