Mets Trade Brian Bannister

From SI.com:

"The Mets have agreed to trade righthanded pitcher Brian Bannister to the Royals for righthanded reliever Ambiorix Burgos, SI.com has confirmed.

Bannister was 2-1 with a 4.26 ERA in limited action during a rookie season mostly spent on the disabled list with hamstring trouble. Burgos was 4-5 with a 5.52 ERA for the Royals in 2006, his second season. Overall, he is 7-10 with a 4.81 ERA."

Burgos seems like a guy who has a lot of potential and will be another arm for the Mets in the pen.

EDIT:: Upon further review, I really like this trade. Burgos is 22-years old and throws gas, he also has a nice slider and a splitter. The knock on him is he has control problems. However, he likely should've been in the minors but playing with the Royals, was thrust into major league action against tough line-ups. He's projected to be a future set-up man. As for Bannister, he's nothing more than a back of the rotation guy and the Mets already have plenty of those to go around.

Nice deal Omar!

Cool Re: Mets Trade Brian Bannister

You have to give Minaya the benefit of the doubt since everything he did last year seemed to be the right move.

Wow, that's some GM you guys have. I was just hearing how the Mets needed a fireballer, and - BANG! - he goes and gets you guys a fireballer. Excellent. Now let's see if this Burgos kid and get the job done.
