Mets Sign Easley

The mets have finalized a 1 year deal with Damian Easley. I am not really sure how i feel about this deal. The article says that he will take over the Chris woodward role but i think that they could have gotten a better utility man somewhere.

perhaps just keeping woodward. I cant name a specific guy that they should be looking for but i dont think that Easley will be very productive.

Re: Mets Sign Easley

Woodward filled the role adaquately but I don't see much if any of a talent dropoff if Easley plays second a bit instead. Honestly it wasn't that major of move. The move I want to see starts with a Z and ends with an O and can give the Mets the jump in the race for the National League Pennant.

I dont think it was a major move either. Woodward didn't play all that much and who knows how he's going to bounce back from his shoulder surgery. Easley is a nice veteran player who's around to give the starters a rest whenever Willie feels like they need one.

I have to agree with Trashed on Zito signing him will make their rotation much stronger. I just think that they could have done better than Easley but for the price he is a good bargain. Is Julio Fraco coming back again. He really is only 3 0r 4 years younger than Willie

I'm not sure about Julio Franco.

I know that Jose Valentin is returning, though.

Question--Isn't Endy Chavez considered a UT?

No, he only plays the OF, granted any of the three spots but he won't play infield.

And about 5 years younger than the earth itself! Sorry, I couldn't resist!

Re: Mets Sign Easley

How about Aurillia as a backup UT. He filled that role for the Reds and did great. He can play every position and his bat is still good.
