Mets Favorites in 2007 If you ask MLB.com and MSNBC.com, it appears the New York Mets are the (very very very) early favorites to represent the NL in the 2007 World Series and possibly even win. Who's Next in '07? Possibly the Mets Mets Will Be Team To Beat in 2007 I sure hope both sites are right. Both seem to think the Mets, led by Omar Minaya will get stronger than ever this off-season and with an even more experienced roster will once again roll through the regular season. But a las, this is a day after the World Series ended and we are left to stare into the deep distance that is the winter's off-season. Does anyone (but me, MLB.com and MSNBC) think the Mets are the (very very very) early favorites for 2007?

Re: Mets Favorites in 2007 If the Mets ink Barry Zito to a deal during the off-season, they might be a serious contender for the World Series Championship next season. They have the offensive aspects of a championship team, but need to strengthen their pitching staff which ran into a few obstacles in the later part of this past season.

Re: Mets Favorites in 2007 I doubt the Mets go seriously hard after Zito. It seems that ownership will give Minaya the money necessary to make some moves but he seems content on going after some key offensive parts and perhaps two starters. I doubt he goes for the big fish like a Zito or Schmidt for some reason.

Re: Mets Favorites in 2007 I think the mets are the clear favorite. They put up an amazing fight in the NLCS without their two best playoff pitchers. What will happen the mets dont have to struggle against the pressure of 4 day rest and rookies going every 2 days. Management should just give Minaya the greenlight to go ahead and get whichever 4-5 players he think would best help the team. Will more than one of those be a big name? we will see.
