That's according to Bob Klapisch of the Record who cites inside Mets sources (whatever that means lol) that Steve Trachsel asked Willie Randolph to be taken out of Game 3. And if it's one thing you don't want to do as a pitcher, it's give up.

According to this same source, Randolph has vowed not to use Trachsel in a possible game 7 and who knows about the World Series. The article suggests if the World Series is in the Mets picture, they may leave Trachsel off the roster in place of Orlando Hernandez (who says he can pitch now).

If the Mets' bats can carry them to the World Series with that lack of starting pitching, it is an indictment on how bad the National League really is.
