| Mets Offense Surfaces in Game 4 The Mets defeated St. Louis by a score of 12-5 earlier tonight. The much hyped pitching match-up of Oliver Perez and Anthony Reyes turned in favor of the Mets. Reyes lasted just a few innings and the Mets were able to light up the Cardinals bullpen. Carlos Beltran hit two solo home runs. David Wright finally had his first hit, a solor home run. Carlos Delgado continued his hot streak with a three run home run and a bases loaded ground rule double. Shawn Green had two hits. Jose Valentin had two hits and three RBIs. Oliver Perez finished the game with 5.2 IP, 9 H, 5 ER, 1 BB and 3 Ks. In relief, Chad Bradford (1.1 IP), Pedro Feliciano (1) and Guillermo Mota (1) each pitched scoreless baseball. Tomorrow night is Game 5 (pending the expected rain storm in St. Louis tomorrow afternoon) with Tom Glavine and Jeff Weaver both pitching on short rest. An important game it is for the Mets because Game 6 (assuming that game 5 is played) will be at Shea but Chris Carpenter will start against likely, John Maine. A huge and much needed offensive win for the Mets. Last edited by EmpireWF : 10-15-2006 at 11:21 PM. |
