Pedro Martinez STILL Not Effective

Pedro Martinez made his final start of the regular season tonight and left after 2.2 Innings. He threw 61 pitches (37 of which were strikes) and allowed seven earned runs on two walks, eight hits and two home runs. He only struck out two.

He won't start again until (what we all assume) Game 1 of the National League Division Series.

Mets fans are hoping he's just cooling himself down in preparation of the playoffs. Because if he's all done for this year, we're in BIG BIG trouble.

Here's hoping that Pedro Martinez will be rejuvanated come playoff time!

Re: Pedro Martinez STILL Not Effective

The Mets are going to have to outslug everyone, because their pitching is in big trouble. Pedro is cooked folks.

Roasted! I saw him for half price at the sushi store after 5PM. Haha, .

The Mets are definitely going after some hot pitchers during the off-season to upgrade their poor pitching staff. When is Duaner Sanchez and Victor Zambrano coming back? I know they were suppose to be out for the season. Does that include the post-season?

What if they have to face Chris Carpenter or Roy Oswalt twice? It may not be as easy as you think for them to turn up the offensive jets.

They face the Cardinals first, I think.

Re: Pedro Martinez STILL Not Effective

They'll play the Cardinals or Astros (if the Phillies take the wildcard) or the NL West Wild Card team.

In any event, Pedro Martinez was back in New York today to be evaluated by team doctors. MetsBlog believes he won't be on the NLDS roster at all and this is just the first step in that becoming the case. I think that will likely be the case. There's no reason he should pitch in the NLDS after his awful pitching performances recently.
