The Mets defeated the Florida Marlins tonight, 4-0, thanks in large part to a great 7 inning performance by Steve Trachsel. With the win, the New York Mets clinched the National League Eastern division title for the first time in 18 years.

I'm so glad that they could win the East at home, in Shea, in front of their own fans! Very cool. This team has had a remarkable season, but it was still awesome to watch them spring open the champagne.

If either NY team doesn't make the World Series, it should mean they choked big time. The rest of the teams don't look like they match up well.

Yeah, especially with the Mets. I mean, the NL is terrible.... None of those teams should beat them.

The yanks have some good challenges- Detroit, Oakland, and Minnesota.
