Carlos Gomez Faster Than Jose Reyes

From MetsBlog, the talk is of Mets OF prospect Carlos Gomez. He's quoted as saying, he's faster than Jose Reyes if the two were to have a race. However, b/c Reyes bats lefty, he's faster out of the box.

This season, it seems as though the star of the Mets farm system from a position player standpoint is Carlos Gomez. So much that some have stated he could take Lastings Milledge's place as the top OF prospect for the Mets in the near future.

Once his body matures, it's said that he should develop more power (this year in Double-A, he only hit 7 home runs). He stole over 40 bases this year and in 2005 led the South Atlantic League (in Single-A Hagerstown) with 64 stolen bases.

Faster than Reyes? That's a scary thought.

Faster doesn't mean better base runner or base stealer...Bases are stolen off the pitcher not the catcher...you got to know what you are doing...I am amaze Reyes can steal at Shea...since its not a carpet.
