-Total domination of the Braves earlier today in a double-header. Scores of 4-1 and 8-0 end up pushing the Mets closer to clinching the division and officially ending Atlant's magnificent run on top.
-It was hilarious watching the few fans left at Shea in the 9th of the 8-0 game mock the Atlanta fans with a tongue-in-cheek style Tomahawk chant routine. Kudos to all the fans though.
-Oliver Perez looked great. He went 9 innings in the second game and shut out the Braves. He only walked one and struck out six. When the kid throws outings like this, you can't help but think he still has what it takes to be a great pitcher in the league. With an off-season of work, I'm excited to see him next year.
-Carlos Beltran returned to the line-up today and thankfully, what happened over the weekend in Houston is in the past. He stole a base and got a couple of walks/runs and was his usual stellar self in center.
-I can't wait for this weekend's series with the Dodgers to begin. With the Dodgers on top in the West, some believe they may pose the biggest threat to the Mets come playoff time. Well, we'll find out what they're capable of over the weekend.
-As a Mets fan since 1997, it's so weird with the Mets head and shoulders above the rest of the NL. And the best part is, with guys like Willie Randolph, Sandy Alomar, Cliff Floyd, Carlos Delgado, Pedro Martinez, Tom Glavine, Billy Wagner, David Wright, etc., the big lead will never get to their heads. This has been a special season and everyone seems to recognize that.
