Mets September Call-Ups

OF Lastings Milledge, RHP Brian Bannister, RHP Phil Humber, RHP Mike Pelfrey OF Ricky Ledee, C Kelly Stinnett will join the Mets major league club in the coming days as September call-ups. This is straight from Mets beat-writer, Adam Rubin.

They will allow certain guys to get rest as the Playoffs approach. It will be great to watch Pelfrey and Humber get some starts in September. Both are expected to be the top aces of the future Mets pitching staff.

Re: Mets September Call-Ups

They've all been officially called-up but the talk is they may not get a lot of playing time since Willie Randolph wants to keep his starters in the thick of things.

Re: Mets September Call-Ups

I think out of those call-ups, Lastings Milledge, Brian Bannister and Mike Pelfry are the best of that group. I remember the days when Kelly Stinnett suited up for the Cincinatti Reds around 2001, but that was a long time ago. I think he signed with the Yankees earlier this season, and he somehow found his way on the Mets. He is a decent back-up for Lo Duca since Castro has an injury. I would prefer Piazza over Stinnett as a back-up but we must always deal with the cheaper one. Pelfry and Bannnister were the top prospects from the minors, so I hope they succeed in the major leagues. You don't want to jump the gun too fast, or else they will end up getting rid of them before they are ready. For an example please see "Kazmir, Scott."
