Cool Best Knick of all time

Here are the finalists:

a) Patrick Ewing
b) Walt Frazier
c) Bernard King
d) Willis Reed
e) Dave DeBuschure

My vote: Walt Clyde Frazier

Everybody else?

See...you can't say Clyde without saying Pearl...I am going off the board with Bernard King...hell of a shooter at a time when they did not have much of a team...

Cool Re: Best Knick of all time

The response has just been overwhelming. Come on - I know there are other Knick fans out there. 1 vote for Clyde, 1 for Bernard King...We need more votes.

Although Ewing was the Knick Icon during my childhood, I'd have to say Frazier too. He was just one outstanding PG and his performance in that '73 Finals was amazing.

100% right on Empire. He also had a great game 7 in '69: 36 points and 19 assists. That is the most overlooked performance in Knick history, due to all of the attention Willis Reed got in that series. For the longest time, Frazier said he was bitter about that but he's over it now.

Does he get extra points for making fashion statements?

Re: Best Knick of all time

Haha, I would have to go with Walt Frazier too. He was just an incredible player and I think a little better than the powerful, Patrick Ewing. Personally, I also liked John Starks but that doesn't mean that he is the best Knick of all-time--just my time.

Did Clyde make Pearl, Pearl?...Would Monroe have been as good without Clyde? I know he was pretty good in Washington (I think) before he got to the Knicks.

Clyde was good at D too...before steals were kept...he would have lead the league.

Monroe was a great offensive player and the only thing he could do better than Clyde was shoot. But Frazier was a better ball handler, better defensive player, better passer....A good analogy of comparing today's players would be like comparing Steve Nash to a Jason Richardson type. Nash has the whole ball of wax.

Re: Best Knick of all time

I have heard Frazier himself say that if Reed had not hurt his knee, this would not even be up for debate-It would have been Willis. But he did, and that leaves only one choice here, Frazier. He was so clutch that I remember him once missing the lost shot against the Celtics in a regular season game, and Icouldn't believe it, and I was a Celtics fan back then.

Re: Best Knick of all time

If you exclude longevity, Bernard King is the best knick ever. An unstoppable scorer with a very high field goal percentage. Had it not been for an untimely injury he suffered, the knicks would have won a championship, and Michael Jordan would not have won 6 or 7 consecutive scoring titles.

Anyone agree?
