| Knicks after Jared Jeffries? According to the New York Daily News: "The Knicks offered their mid-level exception to Jeffries yesterday, a deal that would pay him $30 million over the next five years. However, since Jeffries is a restricted free agent, his current club, the Washington Wizards, has seven days to match the offer." Would this be a good signing for New York?

Boy I'll tell you. I think more about how much I'm spending on my lunch than the Knicks think before they give out 30 million dollar contracts to mediocre stiffs. Soon Isiah is goanna stand on the street and ask any tall person - hey - you play hoops? I'll give you our minimum wage for big men: 30 milliion.

Re: Knicks after Jared Jeffries? No, this is an awful signing. If the Knicks hope to improve their current standing in the NBA, they need to drop some of their personalities as opposed to acquiring all of these mediocre players for inflated contracts. As of now, they do not have a single all-star yet they have unequivocally the highest payroll. Actually, if they could get rid of Francis and Marbury, and gain a legitimate superstar in the process the team would be respectable. But their are only about 10 guys who are capable of this, and I can all but assure that none of them have any intentions in going to New York. Maybe next year's draft they can land Noah or Oden.

It sounds like Washington is going to match the Knicks offer. According to Mark Berman of the NY Post: "Two sources close to Ernie Grunfeld told The Post on July 19 that the Wizards GM was confident Jeffries would return to Washington because Grunfeld planned on matching any mid-level offer and did not foresee another team surpassing that reasonable price. A third source within the Wizards organization confirmed yesterday Grunfeld hoped to match the Knicks' offer for the full $5.2 million mid-level exception. Across five years, that's $30 million. The Wizards would still be under the luxury-tax threshold, meaning they wouldn't have to pay double that amount like the Knicks."

Re: Knicks after Jared Jeffries? It would be funny if it wasn't so true Pundit. Looks like the Knicks may get Jeffries afterall. This is from SI via RealGM.com "Sports Illustrated - According to a league source, the Washington Wizards , who recently signed shooting guard DeShawn Stevenson to a two-year contract, will not match the New York Knicks five-year, $30 million offer sheet extended to restricted free agent forward Jared Jeffries last week. As a result, Jeffries will become property of the Knicks on Monday."

I'm not surprised. I thought it was strange that Washington was going to match this offer in the 1st place. I mean, the Knicks are the only franchise on the planet that would spend 30 million dollars on a mediocre player.

Re: Knicks after Jared Jeffries? Wow....What in the world are the knicks thinking???? Doesn't Jeffries play the same position as Channing Frye? It sounds like there is going to be a trade by the Knicks in the future? Another dismall season in NeW York. Why not trade Marbury and Francis to Philly for Iverson? That might wake up th fans.
