Isiah One and Gone?

I know Pundit posted this but I thought it deserved it's own topic and sheer hilarity.

Dolan spoke to Knick beatwriters and his TV Network (MSG) saying how hiring Brown was a mistake and next year, the players will play for Isiah and it should be fun. He used the word "exciting" when describing Knicks bball and MSG next year. (quietly, laughing/crying as a fan of the team myself)...He also said Isiah Thomas has ONE YEAR to show improvement or he will be fired too.

It's as if this is a really bad sports movie...the main character has one year to turn around the worst team in the game. Somehow, I don't see the Knicks shocking the world and going to the playoffs.

So...looking into the future, who will be the next Knicks head coach/GM (post-Isiah).

What does "show improvement" mean, though. 30 wins? 40? Isiah *may* be able to get that out of sheer good fortune.

Cool Re: Isiah One and Gone?

That's a tough question to answer Lefty. Whoever it turns out to be will probably make no sense, just like everything else Dolan has touched.

Re: Isiah One and Gone?

One of the main newspapers in New York claimed that Larry Brown was going to place Jerome James, Stephon Marbury, Steve Francis, and Jalen Rose on waivers. This would be a controversial move considering the contract details of these players. If the players listed signed contracts in which they were guaranteed their money, it would cost the Knicks a fortune. In some ways, it was smart that Isiah Thomas took over.

However, I don't think it was right to push one of the NBA's top coaches onto the street. Was it truly a "mistake" hiring Larry Brown as the coach? Just think about how poorly the Knicks would've been if they didn't have Brown last year!

Re: Isiah One and Gone?

How much worse COULD they have done? Really it seems like Brown was no help at all.

TO show improvement he has to make one less blunder than Matt Millen this coming year...

That would have cost the Knicks $180 million in salary. This supposedly has always been the problem with Brown. One day he loves the player, the next day he wants to get rid of them....He wanted Frances and Rose and then wanted to waive them. I personally would never hire Larry Brown. I think he should just go retire and enjoy his life with his $50 million for one half-assed year of work.
