The New York Knicks have hired Donnie Walsh as their new president of basketball operations.
One thing that should make Knicks fans at least somewhat happy is that he's already turning an eye towards 2010, when the Knicks will have salary cap room, and he seems determined to protect that: "I think that in three years we’ve got a chance to have flexibility in the cap. So that to me is one thing we’ve got to protect... But in the meantime, I think that we’ve got to make this present team as competitive as we can make it. And that’s going to be the trick."
