Former New York Knicks center Patrick Ewing is a finalist for the Basketball Hall of Fame. Should he get in this year?

Easy choice. I grew up with a kid that played against him in All-Star game in high school. My friend was an All-State guard, and at one point he threw in a floater about a mile high over an outstretched Ewing in the lane!

when i think of top centers of the time i immediately think of Ewing, Olajuwon and David Robinson

Yep, I agree too. Seems almost unanimous. So, would anyone out there keep him out of the Hall, and if so, why?

I think he should be in easy (and I actually thought he was), but Olajuwon and Robinson were better...never thought he was as dominant a player as he should have been.

He should get in without a doubt - But one of the best players to step on the court is a bit much. Where is his ring?

Jabbar, Olajuwan, Wilt, Duncan, Walton, were all better. As a matter of fact, Akeem killed him whenever they went head to head.

I'm not trying to knock Ewing. He was a good guy, played his butt off, but he falls just short of being on that immortal level. But definitely a HOF.

Totally agreed...Not a first tier HOFer but a HOF anyway.

Ewning made himself into a good scoring center. Defense was his specialty from early on. Early at Georgetown, he could dunk and lay the ball in, and that was it, until he developed as the years went by. The lack of a ring hurts him when the great ones are discussed, but he is easily a HOF.
