Newbie To The Knicks/NBA

So guys I figure i'll watch me some NBA this season to cure those boring nights when there is nothing on which is a lot. How are the Knicks looking this year? I hear names like Zach Randolf and stuff. Plus I remember Marbury from his days on the Nets. So give me the 411 on the New York Knicks form a knowledgeable basketball guy!

Re: Newbie To The Knicks/NBA

Well the Knicks should once again be among the league's cellar. If history says anything, the team should once again be filled with players who don't know how to win (with the exception of a guy like forward David Lee who is a beast under the boards).

Can Zach Randolph stay out of trouble? Will he hog the ball? In Portland, his teammates didn't like playing with him because all he cared about was his own stats.

Rookie Wilson Chandler seems like an interesting prospect. I hope he's more than a "athletic" body as Isiah likes to talk about.

Are the Knicks an old team who needs to rebuild because I read on here that Isiah is one of those coaches who tries to win it all every year no matter his personnel.

They're not an old team, but they haven't rebuilt in the truest sense. Isiah Thomas' version of rebuilding is trading expiring contracts for guys with big contracts (Marbury, Randolph, Curry) who have no history of being winners.

Curry and Crawford are still young guys but they just haven't become complete players. Curry dogs it sometimes and Crawford's defense is nothing to write home about.

David Lee is a favorite among Knicks fans for his hustle. Renaldo Balkman (last year's rookie) is also a guy who hustles off the bench and is a nice player.

The Knicks just don't have a superstar on their team which is necessary to win in the NBA these days.

They might not have that superstar needed but it sounds like they at least have a mediocre team. I'm surprised that they're cellar dwellers.
