Jay Williams Rumors

Now this is a rumor that makes sense. Larry Brown wants a pure point guard, and now it looks like he might gamble on former Duke star Jay Williams. Williams was a heck of a college player, but he tore three ligaments in his left knee and severed a nerve in his leg in a June 2003 motocycle accident.

Now the word is the 24-year-old is eyeing a comeback, and that the Knicks may be interested, according to a report in the New York Post. He's a gamble, but his contract would likely be managable and he might wind up being an excellent player, if he's healthy. What do you Knicks fans think about this possibility?

Re: Jay Williams Rumors

Knowing how the Knicks operate, they will probably send a motorcycle to pick him up.

Re: Jay Williams Rumors

ooh, ice cold legend.
This is a great concept and all. But essentially any other team outside of The Knicks would be more suitable for a Jay Williams return. Even The Hawks desperately need a point guard. Who do The Pistons have as a back up PG now that Arroyo is in Orlando? Literally, anyone other than The Knicks.

He couldn't hurt so why not? Anyone who's willing to join the sinking ship should be welcome aboard. Afterall, Francis and co. can't wait to jump off.

Re: Jay Williams Rumors

Now the million-dollar questions:
Will Williams be able to regain his form of old? How much game does he still have in him?

That was a pretty nasty injury... don't know if he really can rebound and still be effective in the NBA.

Re: Jay Williams Rumors

I would like to see the attempt at a comeback regardless of his chances. If Shawn Kemp can try it, why not a young, virile point guard from Duke?

Re: Jay Williams Rumors

I thought he was a great star in college and he was my favorite player in the NBA. I would love to see him play for the Knicks.
