James Dolan is expected Monday to make official what has been speculated for most of the season: Isiah Thomas' tenure with the Knicks will continue after this season.

There is plenty of reason to believe, however, that the Garden chairman will announce he has given Thomas a multi-year extension as president and coach.

i was reading this on espn it gave me a good laug, but also im kinda glad he got it. Now wether larry brown could of gotten this team to win this many this yr o not, its clear isiah did and he shouldnt be fired. But id like to of seen a good soph yr of coaching the knicks for isiah to get an extension but ic ant argue with it what you guys think?

I think that he deserves, considering that they are in the 8th spot, and concievably, albeit unlikely, to make a run at winning their division, with two games coming up against the raptors. He has gotten eddy curry to play to his potential, he has gotten the most out of marbury recently, and they have been hit by injuries, and the teams just seems to stick around.

this team is playing hard i agree with ya, the injuries have been tough on the knicks. But people like balkmen and francis have imprssed me the most this year

It's tough. They've shown they will play for the guy. But I don't trust his decisions in the front office one bit.

But I guess some relief will be had this off-season when a TON of money comes off the books.

I mean, I wasn’t thinking that way -- I was just thinking about how to beat the next opponent. I feel good that the uncertainty about my professional situation is cleared up. But a lot of work is still to be done. The most important thing is that we keep our team moving forward, that we stay focused, and continue to try to get into the playoffs.”

“I thought that continuing in both jobs was important to the stability of the team,” added Thomas. ”There is a foundation that’s been laid in terms of the style of play and the players in the locker room deserve the consistency and the stability.”

This is the worst possible news for Knicks fans. Apparently Larry Brown set the bar so low that anyone could have cleared it, including Thomas. Please don't let the fact that thier sub .500 record has them in the hunt in the woeful eastern Conference fool you. Thomas will run this team into the ground if he is given the chance. Jeffries has been a bust, Balkman is awful, and now with some money coming off the books, he will make all the wrong moves with it.

That's a good point Legend. But that's why I think they just should extended him as coach and get someone else to be GM. He's really not a bad coach, but he's an awful GM.

By gift-wrapping a multiyear extension for Isiah Thomas yesterday, James Dolan again proved he is not a man of his word. It was only nine months ago, on his Madison Square Gulag Network, when Guitar Jimmy promised he would wait until the 2006-07 season ended before making a final decision on the Knicks president/coach's future.

Since many of Dolan's employees - including MSG announcers - are well-paid liars, no one should be surprised by the Garden boss' move. Dolan actually may be looking to expand Thomas' job description. You never know. In Dolan's world, liars are rewarded.

Truth-telling is not a priority.

Still, Dolan did all his alleged broadcasters a favor by making a premature decision on Thomas. By the time tomorrow night rolls around and the Knicks play Toronto, Mike Breen, Walt (Clyde) Frazier, Al Trautwig, or any other Gulag voice, will have the party line well-rehearsed.

Since this extension they have been in the process of playing themselves out of the playoffs. Tal about jumping the gun. And don't tell me about their injuries. Portland last night played without some of their best players.

You're right. It was a horrible loss. The Knicks are toast.
