Knicks Opener in Memphis

The New York Knicks open the new season tonight in Memphis against the Grizzlies. The Grizzlies will count on young guys like Hakim Warrick and rookie Rudy Gay as some of their vets are hurting at the moment. The Knicks meanwhile will field a line-up featuring Stephon Marbury, Steve Francis, Quentin Richardson, Channing Frye and Eddy Curry.

They have size, they have the offensive will. The question is will they play enough defense to win? It's gonna be a long, long season for the Knickerbockers.

In amazing fashion, the Knicks win by a single point after three overtimes. By the end of the game, Marbury, Francis and Curry all fouled out. Quentin Richardson played nearly an hours worth of game-time minutes and had over 30 points.

Re: Knicks Opener in Memphis

What a game! According to the New York Daily News, "Despite a near-epic collapse against the depleted Memphis Grizzlies, the Knicks needed 63 minutes to finally get Thomas a victory in his coaching debut. In fact, their 118-117 triple-overtime win gave Thomas something the Knicks never achieved under Brown - a winning record." And it gives them something to build on. Maybe this season won't be so bad for the Knicks after all. Maybe?

Re: Knicks Opener in Memphis

It just seemed like they were out there trying harder then they ever did under Brown. It's pretty pathetic that these guys who get paid millions don't play hard every day but I guess it's the nature of the beast.

This was the first time in five years that the Knicks won the season opening game. Tha't just hilarious.

Cool Re: Knicks Opener in Memphis

It's only one game against a team who's missing their best player. So let's not get too gaga...But Empire is right, at least it looked like they cared.

True Pundit but a wins a win. Plus they only won about eight games last year on the road. They're already on their way to surpassing that feat.

Great Game. It looks as if I'm a little late to comment though. Oh well...

The Knicks have an easy match-up against the Hawks, but it is often decieving for the Knicks organization. They will have to work their rear-ends off tonight to get the win. In basketball, there is no easy match-up as any team could loose to any team.
