| Rex Ryan's Toughest Foe You might think that for Rex Ryan, head coach of the New York Jets, that his toughest foe might be the Jets fans who were let down last year. Maybe you would think its bringing a new attitude and a breath of fresh air to the mess left by his predecessor, Eric Mangini.
No, the biggest for Rex Ryan faces is dyslexia.
Dyslexia is a language-based learning disability which affects people's abilities to read, spell, write and pronounce words. According to The International Dyslexia Association, perhaps as much as 15-20% of the population has symptoms of dyslexia.
Ryan knew something was wrong when he was growing up. He struggled in school and was a terrible student. He didn't find out he had dyslexia, until a few years ago when his oldest son was tested for ADHD and he was tested also.
In spite of that, Ryan has a Master's Degree in education and has accomplished many goals in the NFL.
He says that he wants other people to know that you can still reach your goals even if you have dyslexia. |
