As seen at The Jets Blog and Berger's Jets Blog, fans are worried Pennington was nicked up while taking a hit early in their first pre-season game. It was a similar hit that originally injured him for the year last season. The Buccaneers blitzed everyone (or so it looked like) and nailed him as the Jets protection couldn't handle it.

Of course the Jets haven't said anything and Jets fans are waiting until practice to see if Pennington is still 100%.

This was the first pre-season game and the brass is already worried about China Doll Chad????? Do they think this guy can really last a full season?? He can last a quarter apparently!!! Chad makes Chris Chandler look like hes the man of steel! Youve got Ramsey (if you give him a chance!), Clemens (supposedly looking good)and Bollinger (directed the decimated offense last year) so choose! Forget Chad its time for plan B Jets fans!!!

Anytime Chad takes a hit, Jets fans are gonna hold their breath. I'm sure it'll be the same with Miami (Culpepper), New Orleans (Brees), Cincinnati (Palmer) and to a lesser degree, Pittsburgh (Big Ben) this season. Once he takes a few licks and gets up OK, I think you'll see the bloggers calm down. That is, unless he doesn't get up OK...

Well I guess this was all for not. Newsday said Pennington practiced today with the first team and was fine.

Team Management has to be on pins and needles though...cause Ramsey doesn't look like the answer.

No Ramsey so far has looked bad BUT...I dont believe Mangini is giving him a fair chance to be honest. Everything I read is that he played a handful of downs here and there. Thats no way to grasp an offense. Typical Jets! Ill tell you this if Ramsey isnt the answer then Pennington sure aint! Honestly, do you see Chad lasting through a 16 game season? He barely lasted the first preseason game!!! If not Ramsey then put Clemens in there and let him learn. I mean if the Jets are truly rebuilding then why not? Chad Pennington simply doesnt have the physical toughness to be an NFL QB and I dare anyone to dispute that!

As a Jet fan, I usually have an idea what the team is goanna do during any given season - in some reasonable ballpark, but honestly this year, I have no idea. They could end up 5-11 or 11-5, but if I had to guess I would say they're not going to be too good this year. Just a hunch. I hope I'm wrong.

But Pundit, wouldn't you want the Jets to do badly so you can get a top draft choice and potentially, a franchise RB (or even a QB)? I know you never root for your team to lose, but the Jets are in transition. Much like the Dolphins last year.
