Before training camp begins, if you were Eric Mangini, who do you send out as your starter?

-Chad Pennington (coming off second major shoulder surgery in as many years)
-Patrick Ramsey (change of scenary?)
-Brooks Bollinger (nobody gives this kid much of a chance to play)
-Kellen Clemons (rookie)

I would start Ramsey off the bat, assuming Pennington is not 110% healthy towards the end of camp. I keep Clemons as the third QB being that he's looked at as a possible solution in the future. However, you make sure to Ramsey and Pennington that it will be a healthy/friendly competition between the two.

I'm with you. Pennington's not healthy, Clemens isn't ready, and Bollinger... well, he's sort of the odd man out here, isn't he? Ramsay, so long as he adequately picks up the offense, should be the starter entering the season. Whoever starts, though, is really just holding down the fort until Clemens is RTG.

According to an Associated Press report, "Though Chad Pennington has outplayed his competition for the open quarterback job, New York Jets coach Eric Mangini insists he has yet to make a decision on a starter... Mangini said Wednesday he will continue with the four-man rotation of Pennington, Patrick Ramsey, Brooks Bollinger and rookie Kellen Clemens during training camp, refuting a published report that Pennington had already won the job less than a week into practice." Odds are it'll be Chad, though, right?

Itll be Chad till he gets hurt so figure by game 2 a new QB will be in there. Ramsey just isnt picking up the offense despite in my opinion him being the correct choice. Mangini doesnt seem to like Ramsey anyway so Chad will start.

I'd be shocked if Ramsey isn't the starter. Mangini wants to put his own stamp on things.

I stand by the theory that a starter can't lose his job because of injury alone...therefore its Chad, until Ramsey or Clemons prove worthy.

Well, according to the AP reporter doing the write-up of this week's Jets game, "Even if Eric Mangini isn't ready to say it, Chad Pennington looks like a quarterback ready to reclaim his job... Playing for the first time since undergoing a second major operation on his right shoulder, Pennington worked two series in the New York Jets' 16-3 preseason loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Friday night... The seventh-year pro completed 9 of 14 passes for 54 yards and lost a fumble when he was sacked early in the second quarter. But more importantly for him and the Jets, his surgically repaired shoulder withstood the first hits he's taken since Week 3 of last season."

Clemens played well, too, though. Who has the advantage after preseason game #1?

I didn't realize Pennington was 100% so I'd assume it's his job to lose. I doubt that will happen unless he completely melts down.

I have to laugh a bit at Ramsay with 4 of 5 votes to be the starter when it was obvious from the start he never had a chance to be more then the #3 Qb.
