The New York Jets must have liked what they've seen of Patrick Ramsey thus far, because they've given the QB a contract extension through 2007. He would've been a free agent at the end of the year. I personally think this guy's going to be a good pick up for the club, tudoring Clemens for the next few years and keeping Chad Pennington on the bench. You agree?

I agree that there's no way in hell that Ramsay doesn't start. There are 2 basic reasons. #1) New regime, they want to go with their guy...2) It gives Pennington's arm more time to heal so if Ramsay falters, they can go to a stronger Chad. If Ramsay is the real deal and plays well this year, Chad is gone.

Yeah, that's my gut feeling too. That's what makes this tidbit from the Newark Star-Ledger even harder to swallow: "QB Chad Pennington remains the favorite to win the starting job entering training camp, but rookie Kellen Clemens could emerge as the backup. Although the club signed QB Patrick Ramsey to a one-year extension through 2007, his roster spot is hardly guaranteed."

Pennington could start? Ramsay could not even make the team? Whaaa?

I personally would take Chad over Patrick any day of the week...hell ship Chad down to Dallas...they will take him.
