Re: Wayne Chrebet Officially Retired Chrebet truly made the most of what football skills he had, the consumate overachiever. What a clutch receiver on 3rd down! It just always seemed like when the Jets needed the chains moved or that improbable touchdown catch, Wayne Chrebet was there to make it. The heart of a lion, a Jet player wholl be remembered with fondness by fans of Gang Green.

Re: Wayne Chrebet Officially Retired Wayne Chrebet was an inspiration to all football fans. He went out there every game, even if he was hurt. He was motivated to win and he did, even though he never walked out with a Super Bowl ring. He won the respect of the fans for 11-years and millions of people are sad to see him go. I saw his last game/catch against the Chargers last season, and I was glad I was at that game. Not only was it my first football game, but the last of my favorite reciever. Thanks for the memories, Wayne!

Re: Wayne Chrebet Officially Retired Speaking of books when Me-shawn Johnson wrote his Melvillian classic "Just Give Me The Damn Ball" he called Chrebet the team mascot despite having similair numbers to the former Buccaneer wideout who couldnt catch TDs. Chrebets response was no response, he decided to let his playing speak for itself. Bill Parcells also said "If every player played like Wayne Chrebet this team would be very good" as soon as he took over the shambles of Jet-land and likened him to Steve Largent (good comparison). He stayed with the Jets even when Herm phased him out of the offense despite offers from other teams like the Broncos. One word for Wayne Chrebet defines him...class. I wish more athletes were like him in every sport.
