NY Jets draft D'Brickashaw Ferguson

The Jets have selected OT D'Brickashaw Ferguson with the #4 overall pick. I know some people wanted them to go after Leinart, but I think this kid is the smart pick. What do you guys think of New York's pick?

They had to go with D'Brickashaw. Now they can know that their line will protect whomever is their QB. Remember, Mangini is from the school where you don't need a 1st roun QB.

Great pick. Media won't like it, but it was the smart pick.

You don't need a 1st round QB...but Matt is not your typical first round over hyped QB...I think he would have been a greater impact on the Jets...

Ferguson is a once-in-a-decade LT, though. You've GOT to get him!

Not with all the questions around Pennington...and Matt on the board...

Leinart's Pennington-esque arm would've scared me off. Remember, they play 1/2 their games at the Meadowlands.

Their line was in shambles, this pick puts that to rest.

And there will be a QB there for them in round 2. Was it NY who was so high on Croyle?

As if Pennigton's arm was ever the real question?...Give me Leinart any day...strong arms?...Jeff Geroge had a cannon for an arm...so much for strong arms...Curtis Martin is of retirement age, Pennington on the ropes...what exactly will Ferguson block for?...If anything Houston to block for the mangled David Carr would have been the ticket...

Reprint from another thread, but...

Jets may be trading up, according to Yahoo! Sports: "Scouting source says the Jets could trade back up for Leinart if he slips out of the top 10. He doesn't think that will happen, but if it does, "The Jets could move back up to get him. Packaging No. 29 and No. 35 will get them to the Ravens (at 13)."

now if they pull that off...they indeed would justify the Ferguson pick...hey, Lefty, why can't you and I have a Mel Kiper type job man?...come on...lets get a website in time for the next draft...you canbe the voice of reason...I can be the off the wall color commentator...the dynamic duo...what do you think

Re: NY Jets draft D'Brickashaw Ferguson

I've heard that many teams (could include the Jets) love the QB from Oregon, Kellen Clemons I think his name is. Jets could go defense with their latter 1st round pick and then pick up the QB in the 2nd.

That seems like an extremely viable scenario, Empire, and a smart one at that.
