Jets Revis Holdout Ending Soon?

Yesterday, the Jets GM told a local radio station that they were working hard with the agents for first round pick CB Darrelle Revis and they were optimistic a deal would get done soon.

So it does look like barring any surprises, Revis could be signed and in camp before the week is out.

That's good. It's been strange seeing a cornerback as one of the last two to sign. How soon till you think he'll work his way into a starting role?

Re: Jets Revis Holdout Ending Soon?

I'm sure he'll be given every chance to earn a starting role, but I don't think he'll be a starter in Week 1 (just due to the holdout).

As for the contract, reports say it was a 6-year deal (what the Jets wanted), but if certain stats are reached, it can be voided after four years.

Scout.com:
Quote:
"Revis and his representatives, initially seeking a five-year deal, were happy because the complex contract can void after four years if he appears in at least 35% of the plays this season or 45% in one of the next three seasons," wrote Cimini in the New York Daily News. "In that case, the Jets have the option of buying back the last two years for a minimum of $14 million. The total value of the contract is $30 million-$36 million, with $16 million in the first four years ($11 million guaranteed)."

Yeah, ESPN's reporting the 6 years, $36 million deal.

I guess he reported to camp today too, so we'll have to see how quick he can pick up the D.
