| Jets RB Jones injures right leg New York Jets running back Thomas Jones limped off the practice field after injuring his lower right leg yesterday. There was no immediate word on the nature or severity of the injury, but it appeared to be either to his ankle or calf. Jones wasn't made available to the media, and coach Eric Mangini had already addressed the media before practice. Jones was untouched during running back drills when he went to plant his right foot and fell. He immediately took off his helmet and untied his shoe before he was examined by a trainer, who wrapped his lower right leg. Jones spent the rest of practice on the sidelines, working the hand bike and stretching. He walked very gingerly, but was able to put weight on the leg. Jones also was clearly able to move his ankle. | Re: Jets RB Jones injures right leg That's right Leon Washington who is quite good but not an every down back. They also signed someone to take the place of Cedric Houston but I forget who. The Jones injury doesn't sound that serious from the report but who knows? This kind of thing is why the old "runningback by committee" approach is so en vogue in the NFL these days. Makes an injury to Jones not as bad as say an injury to Tomlinson or Alexander who carry their teams on their nimble legs. |

| Re: Jets RB Jones injures right leg They do have someone else that they picked up but I forgot his name. I'll look it up. Besides were jumping to conclusions. Lets find out if Jones is hurt enough that he'll miss games first. |

| Re: Jets RB Jones injures right leg Yeah I found out now. It's Tony Hollings the vet who would take Jones's place but the injury does not seem THAT severe really. He might miss the next Jets preseason game but even that is iffy. Wow, this shows just how much the Jets offense is gonna rest on Thomas Jones's shoulders. |

| Re: Jets RB Jones injures right leg Being a Bears guy i probably know Jones the best hear (that is fair to say) It seemed like every mini camp every training camp and preseason he was hurt then was all better for Week 1 i am not hinting he is faking but in the past he was always hurt before the season
