Cool Long suffering Jet fans

After watching the Super Bowl yesterday, I'm really to the point that I don't think I'll ever see the Jets get there. I was only 5 when the '69 team won. I didn't even know football existed.

They closest they came was in '82, when they lost in the slop in Miami, and in '98 when they were beating Denver at halftime 10-0 in the championship game, but lost.

Are there any other Jet fans who feel like I do?

Yes. At 26, I've still never seen them in the SuperBowl.

Take heart guys. Their pointed in the right direction and I think an AFC Championship will come in 2 or 3 years. I really believe in Eric Mangini, he showed that not only can he coach but he knows how to run every aspect of a team. Not many teams have coaches like that. We'll get there gentlemen.

Cool Re: Long suffering Jet fans

I hope you're right Nuke. But after 30 years and only 2 championship games, can you blame me for not being too optimistic?

If it's any consolation Pundit, Cleveland Browns fans have told me they got it worse.

Re: Long suffering Jet fans

That doesn't serve any relevence to our desire of championship gold.

And thus, what else would you expect to hear from the Nuke (our Jets leader)?

Bingo. The Browns haven't won since 1964 and have had infamous playoff blunders. I have been waiting forever and the only championships I have experienced in my lifetime are watching the old videotapes.

Onto the Jets though, their future is looking bright. Mangini got that team overachieving and has certainly given reason to believe in the Big Apple for Gang Green. However, if I recall correctly, next year's schedule is absolutely brutal, so I wouldn't carry high expectations.

Re: Long suffering Jet fans

NFL schedules can't be hard some years, and easier on others. And yet, the Jets somehow get blown out of the Super Bowl picture (since 1969).

But excellent eye, Notorious C.L.E.

Your right, Notorious. That's what happens when a team makes the playoffs. Their following year's schedule is brutal. So I expect it to get worse, before it gets better.

Re: Long suffering Jet fans

Eric Mangini as time goes on seemed to be Belichick's right hand man. What a perfect hire for a head coach and what a job he did in 2006. Yes 2007 will be harder but the players will be more expericenced like the O-Line. A runningback will be brought in to compliment Leon Washington so the Jets will have a sort of Rhodes/Addai tandem and the 3-4 defense will be more familair and have some players added to help stop the run. The Jets will be in the SuperBowl in 2008 and Chad Pennington will have a ring! Can you imagine how great that's gonna be???

Re: Long suffering Jet fans

One of my distant friends is a Jets season-ticket holder. Do you think that he would be eligible to attend the Super Bowl under standard conditions?
