Jets to deal for Culpepper?

I already posted this over in the Raiders forum, but I wanted to post it here to get reaction from the Jets fans as well. What do you think are the chances that this actually goes down?

"The Vikings are gauging quarterback Daunte Culpepper's trade value around the NFL, a person with knowledge of the situation said Wednesday... Baltimore, Miami, Oakland and the New York Jets are among those teams who are expected to pursue quarterbacks this offseason."

Cool Culpepper - Jets

I don't see it happening. The Jets already owe Chad Pennington over 60 million dollars so in any deal Pennington would have to go back to the Vikings. And Pennington has no value until he proves he can stay healthy and play an entire season...

And Salary Cap Provisions aside, the Jets don't need a guy like Culpepper. We all see what he did without Randy Moss. If the Jets are convinced that Pennington won't be any good again they would take either Leinhardt, Vince Young or Cutler at 4.

Not gonna happen. As Pundit said, the Jets already have way too much money tied up with Pennington to even think about Culpepper. The article just said the Jets would be pursuing QBs, it failed to mention the fact that they'll likely pursue guys the caliber of John Kitna. I've heard more rumors that the Jets are still somewhat interested in Philip Rivers (although I don't see why the Bolts would trade him since Brees is hurt).

Either way, the Jets shouldn't draft a QB in the first two rounds. They have way too many holes around the entire team to take a swing on a guy at that point. And Leinart won't be available at 4. Vince Young COULD be (if Ferguson jumps up boards...he has already) but that would take even more time for him to develop, then again, Jets do have plenty of time I guess.
