Jets eyeing Hurricanes assistant

Various sources are reporting that the Jets are close to hiring University of Miami tight ends coach Mario Cristobal as their new TE coach. Word is that the 35-year-old Cristobal was a highly touted assistant down at Miami who particularly good at recruiting. This would be his first pro job.

Sounds like a pretty good hire if they do sign him away. LOL whats with all these 30-something coaches?

Cristobal has had his run with some fine TEs down there w/ Shockey and Winslow in recent memory.

Jets are hoping Doug Jolley can be that serious pass catching tight end. Last year was a fluke for the whole team so I wouldn't judge most of the guys all that much just yet.

Surprisingly, it looks as though he's turned them down. Looks like he's going to stay with Miami. Shame, cause like you said Empire, the Jets could have used him to help turn Jolley into a big-time receiving threat.

Isn't Miami going to go through a big coaching change in a year or two? Or maybe I'm thinking of when Coker fired a bunch of assistants down there.
