| New Islanders Coach The New York Islanders have hired AHL Coach of the Year Scott Gordon as their new head coach. According to the Associated Press, "Gordon, who will be formally introduced at a news conference Wednesday, was picked to lead the Islanders’ youth movement that Nolan was resistant to buy into... Under Gordon, Providence went 55-18-3 last season, and in five seasons with the team, he was 221-141-20-27. He was an assistant with Providence for three seasons before taking over as head coach, and coached in the ECHL before that." Good hire? Islanders hire AHL coach of year Gordon - NHL - Yahoo! Sports

| Re: New Islanders Coach hmm. Is that what they are saying the problem was with Nolan? - a resistance to buy into youth? Then this Gordon is exactly what they want. Still - I feel they don't give coaches long enough to prove themselves. They are the first to get the heave-ho.
