Islanders revel in TEAM Regarding the Isles-Rangers brawl the other night: Quote:
"I don't think anyone wants to play too many games like that, but it's good to stand up for each other," said goaltender Rick DiPietro, who was thrown out after joining a fray in which Simon was taking on Hollweg and the Rangers' Jason Strudwick at the same time. "That goes a long way with guys in the locker room. I've said since the beginning of camp we've got a really good group of guys, close-knit. We've had a lot of fun together. If you've got to go out and stand up for each other, that's what you've got to do."
In two of their three scuffles, Hollweg received help from a Rangers teammate. That upset Nolan.
"I believe in man-to-man combat, not man-to-two-men combat," Nolan said. "Somebody can take care of themselves, but not having two guys jump on one guy all the time. That's what they did. Simon handled himself the first time pretty good, but he got jumped the second time from behind, so that's why Ricky jumped in." It's called going to bat for each other. | These guys revel in team -- Newsday.com
