Potential moves......

I just wanted to make this it's own thread........

Any thought out there on potential moves the Isles might make?

How does everyone feel about Peca making a return to the Island? Why do we always get this guy when he's having contract troubles?

Cool Re: Potential moves......

Did you hear that the Islanders are interested in Peca? Personally, I wouldn't touch the guy. He's way too fragile. He's always injured. And they have that type of player in Sillinger.

Looks like Poti is coming back - that is good. From Greg Logan's blog:

Quote:
One NHL source said the Isles and defenseman Tom Poti are in the process of negotiating a multi-year contract. Poti led the Isles with average ice time of 25:42 and with a career-high 38 assists, and he found a comfort level on the Island after his rough experience with the Rangers.
Also, it looks like Sean Begenheim may be a problem. This is not good

Quote:
No doubt, many Islanders fans are looking forward to adding 2002 first-round pick Sean Bergenheim to the lineup following his year in the Swedish Elite League, where he had 33 points in 36 games and 80 penalty minutes. Hate to say it, but there’s a chance this summer could be a replay of last summer’s negotiations standoff. In fact, there are indications the dispute will pick up exactly where it left off with both sides entrenched in their positions. Bergenheim and Snow both have stubborn streaks, and “compromise” might not be in their vocabulary…

Re: Potential moves......

I don't think there's a chance of Peca coming back. Snow and Peca did not get along. Personally, I am happy he is no longer an Islander. After the Tucker hit, he lost the best part of his game.

Re: Potential moves......

Just wanted to make it clear that I'm not a peca fan. I saw it on espn.com. It was in the Rumor Central section. They just raised the question of Peca making a return to the island. It definately is not a move that I want the club to make. I would really like to sign blake and Smyth. Give Smyth the "C", and make a push for either Gomez or Drury, and of course sign Poti. Other then that I'm a happy camper. Our Defense is better then average and don't remember we still have Martinek. We really missed him during the playoff run, no doubt. I think we have a solid squad. Then, next year, when Okposo is ready......... then the **** is going to get real interesting. I'm really excited by this kid. He could possibly turn our franchise around. Staying in school for another year was a great decision. I hope he does well going after that NCAA championship.

You're right about the defense being solid....The Islanders still have the same problem they've had the last decade. They don't have enough guys who can put the puck in the net. That's what they need to concentrate on.
