| Re: Should Giants get Brandon Marshall? We're all tempted to sign a #1 WR to a 1 year deal, just to get through this season. But let's see what this team can do without buying into talented but troubled players like Marshall, T.O., Plax, Ochocinco, Shockey, etc. If the current batch of Giant WRs can stay healthy this season, especially Moss, then I believe they can move the chains and earn that 8th man out of the box. That's a huge "if" that Moss stays healthy, so Smith, Moss, and Manningham can enable Hixon to be the ace return man that he is, while Nicks and Barden have a season to figure out how complicated the NFL is at the WR position. Those guys aren't "everybody look at me" head cases by any stretch, so they're not going to be causing distractions by shooting themselves, or beating up their girl friends on multiple occasions, screaming at their QB during games, holding driveway sit-ups press conferences, not showing for OTAs, refusing to work out with their teams, changing their names to match their jersey numbers, etc. etc. etc. Alas, already we're hearing Moss and Tyree have toyed with hammy injuries again, so it's probably not likely Moss will stay on the field very much. But if he can, and he does what he's capable of doing... with Manningham and Smith... that'll be enough to back the 8th man out, balancing the running game passing game attack... without the locker room chemistry killing baggage. And this season, with this D, it won't take but a couple scores to put most games out of reach. |
