EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J., Aug. 29 — The rookie cornerback E. J. Underwood was placed on the season-ending injured-reserve list as the Giants pared their roster to 75 players Tuesday, as mandated by the N.F.L.

Underwood, signed as a free agent during the off-season, was playing with the first team as an extra defensive back in passing situations. He hurt his shoulder in Friday’s preseason game against the Jets.

“He’d had a really good camp,” Coach Tom Coughlin said.

Well he impressed Coughlin but to be honest this is like the 2nd or maybe 1st time ive even heard of this guy. Not saying hes not good but I dont think its that major a blow to the defense. Now we need a report on LaVar Arrington if you want to talk defensive importance.
