Rob Johnson's bid to return to the NFL after a more than a 2½-year absence and a surgery to have a tendon transplanted in his right elbow apparently has failed.

While the team did not identify the players because it has until Tuesday to reduce its roster to 75, teammates confirmed the move. The 33-year-old Johnson also was not at practice and was not immediately available for comment.
