EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- The New York Giants released Super Bowl hero Plaxico Burress on Friday, a little more than four months after the talented but troubled wide receiver accidentally shot himself in the thigh in a New York City nightclub.

Burress' four-year tenure with the Giants was highlighted by a game-winning touchdown catch in the Super Bowl against the previously undefeated New England Patriots in February 2008, but it was also dogged by fines and suspensions.

Burress' status has been uncertain since he shot himself in the thigh on Nov. 29 with an unlicensed gun he'd stuffed into his waistband. He faces a felony weapons charge that could put him in prison for at least 3½ years if convicted.

Can't say I won't miss the old Burress. However, I am willing to see this Burress go. Lets see if we can get a good receiver in free agents, trade, or the draft.

Why not, TO is like the band Fall Out Boy, they talk about a ton of mature subjects but never swear. TO is just kind of an ass, he's not a criminal. Plax, you could've gone either way on this one, but if he diidn't want to re-do his deal he probably needed to go

No, you couldnt go either way on this one. It was more than him not wanting to re-do his deal. He's getting worse all the time.
He was stopped on March 18 in Florida for erratic driving and speeding. He was extremely abusive to the deputy, cussing him out and saying he knew the Sheriff and the deputy would be in trouble.(sheriff doesnt know him)
Two weeks earlier he received 4 violations, 60 mph in 45 mph speed zone, improper tags, improper lane changing, and improper window tinting.
Might be an awesome receiver, but he's also a big jerk.

Yeah you could go either, way. He has a lot of traffic violations, but my mom has those, no one really cares. Than he had the gun incident, which why he had a gun at night club is bad, he fired it which is bad, he'll probably go to jail which is bad, but really he hurt no one, just himself. Thats why you could go either way

But there were a lot of incidents where he didnt follow team rules. Now he is breaking traffic rules. I see him as going down the wrong road.
Time will tell.
My guess is the Giants know more than we do.
Enough traffic violations and you lose your license.
